Music – language more than artefact

Trained as a classical pianist, I was raised to present music more as a correct, interpreted performance than a spontaneous outpouring – and I had to do this in a pressurised, competitive environment. Despite early success, I never felt at home making music in that way and found myself drawn to a rather different kind of approach.

For me, music is less like a performance and more like a language that I use to explore very deep feelings, to process them and share this with others. I love to improvise and tell stories using musical language spontaneously. I also compose pieces, but do this less to create perfected objects, more as carefully edited musings on life.

It can transport us to magical worlds

Whether playing my own music or pieces by other composers, I like to tap into the power of music to lift us out of our everyday experience, to carry us into a fantasy realm.  In my album "Forces & Moments" below, you can hear my eclectic influences and how I use music to embark on an inner adventure. I have also released other albums, and you can hear them on major streaming sites.
